Karnataka Rajyotsava 2026 marks the 70th Karnataka Formation Day, commemorating the historic unification of all Kannada-speaking regions into a single state on 1 November 1956. Celebrated every year on 1 November, the occasion is one of the most significant festivals in Karnataka and is observed as a public holiday across the state. Traditional art forms such as Dollu Kunitha, Veeragase, Kamsale, Yakshagana, and Kolata showcase the state’s vibrant cultural diversity, while local artists and students participate in competitions and performances highlighting Karnataka’s rich artistic heritage.

A key highlight of the celebration is the presentation of the prestigious Rajyotsava Awards, conferred by the Government of Karnataka on individuals and organizations for their outstanding contributions to literature, education, arts, science, sports, public service, and social welfare. The awards recognize those who have made significant contributions to the development and cultural identity of Karnataka.
